Dacha gardensWhen city is overcrowded, we are hiding in dacha gardens. And here you can find lots of reality and life forms. You can remember how to talk with earth and air. People are both opened and closed. And time goes here another way too.

Uzbekistan2007

In Tashkent there was small cozy courtyard under the open sky. Vineyard, a goat, few dogs, some roosters. And the autumn leaves, and cool evenings.
I lived there few weeks visiting my aunts.

In Samarkand I was glad to meet with the engineer Pavel Alekseevich. He showed me his paintings, sights and told me a lot of historical facts.

In Qarshi there was a very suspicious man, who was with me for a long time, asked me about personal things, generously paid for me in the restaurant. There was something not completely pure and sincere, and I just went away.

Dagestan

2009

The Archins are an ethnic group who live in eight villages in Southern Dagestan, Russia. Archib is the parent village of these. From Archib the other seven villages grew and for three months a year the whole community used to reassemble in Archi to engage in communal work. Their culture is one of the most distinct and best-preserved of all the cultures of Dagestan.

They speak their own Archi language and have a total population of about 1200.
